I believe my work, be it representational, surreal or abstract non-objective, reflects the immediacy of my life. Over the last 40 years painting has become a way for me to journal. Layers of paint give voice beyond utterance or written expression. I am presently challenged and intrigued by non-objective expression. Only the size of the surface, tools and the palette are considered ahead of time. I give over to spontaneity and am thrilled when the expression begins to take shape. If my intuition fails, I call upon imagination to fill in the blanks. I rely on technical skills gained over time to hone the piece. I have never doubted that the process demands I call upon my sense of adventure and my willingness to risk - “to just go for it and see what happens”!
